Fluxx offers opportunities for professional actors to take improvisation classes on a drop-in basis, or participate in occasional intensive weekends. The classes are useful for keeping in training since they involve interactive games and exercises as well as more structured, character or narrative-based sequences.
We see improvisation as a core practice that has a wide range of applications; principally for actor training, for devising shows and for impro as performance. Each workshop has a training focus, and that focus is usually retained for several weeks. You can find more information on the current focus by looking at the Calendar pages or by contacting admin@fluxx.co.uk
If you are interested in attending a workshop for the first time, you should make contact by email. It is expected that you are a professional actor or have an equivalent background in similar work. The workshops are generally not suitable for absolute beginners. However, they are accessible, easy to participate in and are appropriate for actors who are engaged in different kinds of theatre.
The drop-in classes take place on Tuesdays in Islington and cost £5 per session. They are led by members of the company or visiting performers, teachers and directors. Past teachers have included John Wright, Guy Dartnell, Lois Weaver, Ansuman Biswas, Sten Rudstrom (Germany), Shawn Kinley (U.S.A.) and Andre Bessing (Holland).
