E.S.P. (Experiments in Spontaneous Performance) is a collective of actors, musicians and dancers working together to explore cross-art form improvisation. Principally the group comprises Danielle Allan, Rick Nodine, Alison Blunt, Chris Johnston and Rex Hossi Horan.
Always unpredictable, performances involve the articulation of strategies that combine the art forms, either playing through a kind of complementarity or involving a rough synthesis. They may lean towards or away from comedy, or towards or away from surrealism in which different narrative elements harmonise or pull against each other.
Formed in 2001, the group has played Warwick Arts Centre, Coventry Centre for Performing Arts, Chisenhale Dance Space and the Lyons Improvisation Festival amongst other venues.
More recently, Rick, Chris and Rex have performed as Barking Dogs.
